In 2012, the number of population in Maldives is about 338,000. The Maldivian economy relies on fishing, maritime transport and tourism in addition to production of clothing, shipbuilding and crafts. The most important agricultural crops are cotton, coconut, breadfruit, mango, lime, banana, pumpkin and taro in addition to sugar cane and tea for domestic consumption.
