3 New York Fifth: The high cost resulting from these situations, whether claimed lives, properties, missed opportunities, crises of hunger, diseases, or lost generations, continue to pose a huge burden to humanity. They drain substantial resources had they been directed towards development, construction, eradication of poverty, illiteracy, and disease, our world today would have been more stable, secure and prosperous. Mr. President, As the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a founding member of the United Nations; and one of the first signatories to its Charter and proudly committed to it; the Kingdom has always been keen to participate in all efforts dedicated to maintaining international peace and security, promoting the performance of this international body, and bringing it closer to achieving its noble goals and objectives stipulated in its Charter, which we all look to achieve and realize. We still keep our firm belief that the UN's ability to carry out its functions is mainly related to the availability of its Members' political will to put those principles into actual implementation, to develop and reform the UN's principal organs, to make them more representative and suited to our world and the changes that took place during the past eras of the UN's history. Mr. President, A short while ago, we listened to the representative of Israel dealing with this vital subject cynically and with arrogance and mockery. We have seen how he granted himself the right to distribute positions and Oscar awards left and right while forgetting, or pretending to forget, the amount of extreme ridicule manifested in the inauguration of Israel to a position in the commission on the elimination of occupation while it comes first as the undisputed occupier. He also forgot to continue the distribution of his alleged Oscar Awards and give Israel the Oscar in “Horror and Murder” for the crimes they committed in Gaza, Qana, Deir Yassin, Sabra and Shatila, Bahr-Al-Baqar, and elsewhere. Moreover, he should have given Israel the award of “Forged Documentary” films as it claimed for itself alleged rights in Al-Quds, Hebron, and the territory of Arabian Palestine; in addition to the award of the “Worst Actor” as its Representative talks about human rights, democracy, and justice while his country violates all these concepts on a daily basis. --More 11:45 LOCAL TIME 08:45 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
