United Nations, Rabi'II 8, 1436, Jan 28, 2015, SPA -- The UN Security Council condemned the deadly terrorist attack against the Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli, Libya and highlighted the need to bring the perpetrators, financiers, and sponsors of such “reprehensible” acts to justice. In a statement issued to the media late Tuesday, Security Council members condemned the incident and expressed sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims. The 15-country council reaffirmed that terrorism constitutes one of the most serious treats to international peace and security, and that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable regardless of their motivation. The Security Council also expressed full support for U.N. special representative to Libya Bernardino Leon and urged all parties in Libya to engage constructively with his efforts to resume an inclusive political process aimed at addressing the political and security challenges facing the North African country. At least three people were killed and at least six were injured Tuesday in a car-bomb explosion and gun attack at the hotel. --SPA 17:45 LOCAL TIME 14:45 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
