Los Angeles, Safar 19, 1436, Dec 11, 2014, SPA -- A powerful storm slammed northern California Thursday, with high winds and copious rain that left parts of SanFrancisco flooded and without power, but it brought a silver lining: the promise of some relief to the drought-stricken region, dpa reported. By 10 am (1800 GMT) the storm packing winds of up to 112 kilometresper hour had dumped more than 2.5 centimeters of rain on downtown SanFrancisco, and more than 20 centimeters in the wine-making community about 100 kilometers to the north, according to the US National Weather Service. A shopping centre parking lot in the town of Healdsburg was flooded so deep that people paddled through it in kayaks, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. -- SPA 23:51 LOCAL TIME 20:51 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
