OIC Secretary General Says Riyadh Supplementary Agreement is in Islamic Ummah’s Interest

Jeddah, Muharram 28, 1436, Nov 21, 2014, SPA -- Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani, praised the Riyadh supplementary agreement reached by Their Majesties and Highnesses in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kingdom of Bahrain, State of Kuwait, and the State of Qatar on 16 November 2014. The agreement was reached as part of the commitment of the leaders of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council to mend fences among the GCC states and thereby bring back dynamism and vitality to the fabric of the Arab nation to enable it stand united to confront the numerous challenges facing the region. Chief of these challenges is countering Israel’s escalation and violation of Palestinian’s rights in the occupied territories and desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first of the two qiblas and Islam’s third holiest sanctuary. Madani stressed that this agreement serves the interest of the peoples of the Islamic ummah and boosts their solidarity and joint action represented by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. The Secretary General also expressed his confidence that the call of the Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques for ending differences and turning a new page of joint action would be a rallying point and beacon not only for the GCC states and the Arab world but for the entire Islamic ummah.
