Washington, Muharram 04, 1436, October 28, 2014, SPA -- Governments should not deter health workers from traveling to West Africa to help stop the spread of Ebola, the head of the U.N. Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER) said Monday. Anthony Banbury visited and met with the presidents of Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia over the past week to consult and discuss with the leaders national and international efforts needed to stop the spread of Ebola. “Time is of the essence, and we need international support to be ramped up, from more medical supplies to more health care workers in all three countries,” Banbury told reporters upon his arrival to UNMEER’s headquarters in Ghana. “Anything that will dissuade foreign trained personnel from coming here to West Africa and joining us on the frontline to fight the spread of Ebola would be very, very unfortunate,” Banbury told Reuters. --SPA 11:59 LOCAL TIME 08:59 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
