WASHINGTON, Muharram 04, 1436, October 28, 2014, SPA -- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will visit Ottawa Tuesday to offer “steadfast U.S. support” for Canada, following last week’s terror-related incidents, and to discuss security and other issues, the two governments said. Mr. Kerry will extend his condolences to Canadian officials and pledge “continued close cooperation in our shared approach to countering violent extremism,” his spokesperson said in a statement. “He will also express America’s solidarity with the Canadian people, reaffirming the close friendship and alliance between our countries,” the statement said. Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird said he and Mr. Kerry will discuss “ways to strengthen our bilateral relationship, focusing on domestic security, on promoting legitimate trade and travel between our two countries, and on further cooperation on North American energy security.” Mr. Baird noted that Canada and the U.S. are cooperating closely on a range of issues, including countering the threat of ISIS militants, and aiding Ukraine in its fight against a pro-Russian insurgency. --SPA 11:34 LOCAL TIME 08:34 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
