Riyadh, 07 Muharram,1439 AH, 27 September,2017 , SPA --- The General Secretariat of Senior Scholars Council has commended the royal order to apply the traffic system and its executive regulations - including the issuance of driving licenses - for both males and females. It said in a statement, "The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, taking care of the interests of his country and its people and safeguarding its Islamic values and religious and national interests does not hesitate to take what it would be in the interest of his country and its people in the matter of their religion and life." The Council pointed out that fatwas of all scholars concerning women's driving of vehicles focused on the interests and evils, but not on driving in itself which is not forbidden by anyone. The statement noted that the majority of the members of the Senior Scholars Council said that the religious ruling allows women's driving of vehicles and they do not see what prevents women from driving vehicles in the light of religious and regulatory guarantees to maintain and respect women, praising the royal order in which the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has sought for the interests of his country and its people in light of the Islamic Sharia. -- SPA 14:28 LOCAL TIME 11:28 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w499212
