Srinagar, Jumada I 11, 1437, Feb 20, 2016, SPA -- Militants fired automatic rifles at a convoy of Indian paramilitary soldiers in the Indian portion of Kashmir on Saturday, killing two and wounding 10 others before taking refuge in a nearby government building, police said. More than 110 civilian government employees were evacuated from the building, AP quoted police officer Syed Javed Mujtaba Gillani as saying. One civilian was injured in the attack, which occurred on the southern outskirts of Srinagar. Two or three attackers were suspected to be hiding in the building, Gillani said. Army and police personnel surrounded the building, leading to an intermittent exchange of gunfire with the rebels. With darkness enveloping the area, the standoff was expected to last several hours. The wounded soldiers were hospitalized, including one in critical condition, Gillani said. --SPA 18:40 LOCAL TIME 15:40 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
