MINSK, Belarus, Rabi'II 03, 1437, January 13, 2016, SPA -- Representatives of Russia and Ukraine have pledged to make a new effort to enforce a shaky cease-fire in eastern Ukraine and exchange prisoners, according to AP. OSCE envoy Martin Sajdik says the parties agreed to make a new attempt to fully halt fighting between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russia rebels. He spoke after Wednesday's meeting in the Belarusian capital Minsk of the Trilateral Contact Group, which is negotiating a settlement to the conflict that has killed more than 9,000 people since April 2014. The group includes envoys from Ukraine, Russia and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Representatives of the Russia-backed separatist rebels also attended the talks. A peace agreement last February has helped reduce fighting, but skirmishes have continued and there has been little progress in bringing about a political settlement. --SPA 22:18 LOCAL TIME 19:18 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
