Washington, Dhu-AlHijjah 21, 1435, Oct 15, 2014, SPA -- Hurricane Gonzalo on Wednesday became a category-4 hurricane but was expected to weaken on Thursday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said. Gonzalo was a major category-3 hurricane on Tuesday, and reached its peak on Wednesday with maximum winds of 215 kilometers per hour at about 1,000 kilometers south-southwest of Bermuda. Forecasters do not expect Gonzalo to pose a threat to the mainland United States but put Bermuda under hurricane watch as Gonzalo is expected to hit the island on Friday. Gonzalo has already caused damage power lines and boats in the Caribbean islands of Antigua, Saint Maarten, and Martinique and has killed one person. --SPA 21:46 LOCAL TIME 18:46 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
