Riyadh, Oct. 04, 2021, SPA -- The National Center for Archives and Records displayed archival documents about the Saudi-Iraqi relations that date back to more than a century, as part of its pavilion at the 2021 Riyadh International Book Fair. The oldest document was a speech from the Speaker of the Shura Council on the Hajj road from Iraq, where the center acquainted visitors on a document dated Thul Qidah 6, 1376, in which late King Saud bin Abdulaziz, may his soul rest in peace, ordered promoting Minister Plenipotentiary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim Al-Sweil to the rank of an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to His Majesty the King of Iraq, upon the Royal approval to increase the political representation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Iraq. The documents also included a Royal Order during the reign of King Khalid bin Abdulaziz, may his soul rest in peace, to approve a cooperation agreement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Iraq in the specialization fields of the ministries of interior in the two countries, in addition to a document, where King Fahd bin Abdulaziz rectified an economic and commercial agreement between the governments of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the republic of Iraq. The National Center for Archives and Records sought to acquaint the fair’s visitors with its publications that include a number of its periodic journal “Document Studies” and the scientific research in the field of documents, in addition to reviewing its efforts in maintaining government documents through documenting 255,695 archived documents, classifying 135,900 documents and reviewing 262,914 documents. --SPA 20:23 LOCAL TIME 17:23 GMT 0029 www.spa.gov.sa/w1630509
