Makkah, June 10, 2021, SPA -- The Muslim World League (MWL) hosts here today, Thursday, the “Declaration of Peace in Afghanistan” conference, under the auspices and support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which brings together senior officials and scholars from the Islamic Republics of Afghanistan and Pakistan, with the aim of achieving reconciliation among the Afghan parties, as well as consolidating peace in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The event comes as a realization of the role the Makkah-based organization could play in resolving all conflicts and disputes of the Islamic nation within the framework of great support, care and Islamic leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The conference will start in vicinity of the Sacred House of Allah in Makkah, the Qibla of Muslims, where the Secretary-General of MWL Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, who is also Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, alongside the Minister of Islamic Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Sheikh Dr. Noor-ul-Haq Qadri; the Minister of Hajj, Endowments and Guidance of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Sheikh Mohammad Qasim Halimi; and senior scholars from the two countries will participate in its opening session. The session will also be attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Pakistan to the Kingdom General Bilal Akbar; the Ambassador of the Republic of Afghanistan to the Kingdom Ahmed Javed Mujadidi; the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Pakistan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Rizwan Saeed Sheikh and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Afghanistan to the OIC Dr. Shafiq Samim. The conference includes five sessions focussing on peace, tolerance, moderation and reconciliation in Islam, in addition to Islam’s approach in maintaining human dignity and preserving life, building peace in light of Islamic principles, the importance of regional peace and security, and the role of scholars in resolving regional conflicts and supporting peace efforts.
