OIC's Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission Stresses Importance of Literacy in Efforts to Recover from COVID-19

Jeddah, September 08, 2021, SPA -- The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) called on all member states to intensify their efforts in supporting the right to education, as this is a basic strategy to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, thus helping in the recovery and advancing sustainable development goals. The commission stressed that literacy skills have become a necessary condition for enjoying basic human rights in the era of social distancing, and digital skills today have become an integral part of literacy skills.
