Tokyo, Ramadan 11, 1438, June 06, 2017, SPA -- A controversial nuclear reactor on the Sea of Japan coast was brought back online on Tuesday, the operator said, despite persistent worries about its safety, according to dpa. Reactor 3 at the Takahama Nuclear Power Station in Fukui prefecture, 400 kilometres west of Tokyo, had been restarted, Kansai Electric Power said in a statement. The reactor, as well as Reactor 4, had been shut down in March 2016 due to safety problems after an injunction issued by Otsu District Court. The order came despite the two reactors having cleared safety regulations, which were updated following the meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi plant in 2011, the country's worst nuclear disaster. The lower court's order was repealed by the Osaka High Court in March however. Reactor 4 had already been brought back online in mid-May. Of Japan's 42 operable reactors, only four were in operation as of last week. --SPA 12:56 LOCAL TIME 09:56 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w422160
