At least 23 killed in two road ambushes in South Sudan

Juba, Sha'ban 10, 1438, May 6, 2017, SPA -- At least 23 people were killed when unknown gunmen ambushed two passenger vehicles in South Sudan, an official said Saturday. About 17 others were wounded during the attacks, which took place Friday evening on a road linking the capital Juba with Bor, capital of eastern Jonglei state, the state's information minister, Akech Dengdit, told dpa. The gunmen first ambushed a Land Cruiser and killed 11 people, mostly civilians, according to Dengit.   Several hours later, 12 people were killed during an attack on a second vehicle, the minister said.
