Riyadh, Ramadan 1, 1438, May 27, 2017, SPA -- In implementation of the noble directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Actions responded, urgently, to fight and contain the cholera epidemic, in Yemen and implemented several projects, in this regard. Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabi'ah, Adviser at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the center has signed here a project with the World Health Organization (WHO), worth $ 8.224.299 million, serving all governorates, in Yemen, to eliminate Cholera outbreak. The accord was signed by the head of the WHO mission, in Yemen, Dr. Nivio Zagaria. Dr. Al-Rabi'ah said in a press statement following the signing that the implementation of the noble guidance to stand with the Yemeni brothers against the health crisis going through the country, comes in response to and that the implementation of an integrational process of various programs to address the cholera epidemic and mitigate its effects will take place, noting that the value of the project is $ 299, to benefit all governorates, in Yemen, pointing out that the center has sent a ground convoys containing 550 tons of medicines and supplied an amount exceeding $ 2 thousands for the diagnosis and treatment of anti-cholera epidemic. The project aims to reduce mortality and diseases caused by acute watery diarrhea (cholera) in all governorates of the Republic of Yemen, through increased surveillance, response and early detection of the epidemic. It also includes several activities, such as monitoring, strengthening, improving control, early detection and case verification for the infected and to identify the sources of infection, risk factors, follow-up cases and the establishment of places of community control through health volunteers and activate rapid response, he remarked. Strengthening of the central laboratory of the Ministry of public Health and population of Yemen and laboratories in major hospitals are among assigned goals of the teams, he added.
