15 killed in a week as floods return to central Vietnam

Hanoi, Safar 07, 1438, November 07, 2016, SPA -- Fifteen people were killed and six are missing a week after fresh flooding hit central Vietnam, authorities said Monday, according to dpa. Flooding affected 10 provinces in the central and central highlands regions of Vietnam, the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention reported on Monday. After seven days of downpours, flooding affected more than 41,000 houses, with 450 partially or totally destroyed, the report said. Some 12,000 hectares of rice paddies and vegetable fields were damaged. Some 43,000 ducks and chickens and 440 cattle perished, causing a loss of 22 million dollars, the Department of Disaster Prevention and the Central and Central Highlands said. --SPA 13:55 LOCAL TIME 10:55 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
