Meeting of the GCC Member States' Economic, Development Affairs Issues Statement

Riyadh, Safar 10, 1438, Nov 10, 2016, SPA -- In response to a generous initiative of their Majesty and Highnesses the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), on May 31, 2016 of the Supreme Council issued a decision, in its 16th consultative session to form a high-level body comprising member states and to be called Economic and Development Affairs commission, which aims to explore and discuss economic and development topics of interest to member states and take necessary decisions about it, look at the recommendations and policy studies and projects that would develop cooperation, coordination and integration among member states, in these areas, and effectively deal with regional, global and economic developments, follow up implementation and accelerate agreements and regulations related to the GCC, in regard of economic and development , decisions and consideration of matters referred to it by the Supreme Council and submitted from ministerial committees within the Council. The decision came out of lofty vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on strengthening the GCC joint action, which was adopted by the Supreme Council under Resolution No. 1/955 (2015) of the thirty-sixth session, held on 9 to 10 December 2015, and to achieve goals stipulated in the Statute of the Council of cooperation on strengthening cohesion, integration and coordination among the GCC countries, in all fields, in order to accelerate the pace of joint action to achieve these goals. -- more 21:33 LOCAL TIME 18:33 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w267385
