Meeting of the GCC Member States' Economic, Development Affairs Issues Statement Riyadh 2

In this context, the first meeting of the Commission held on Thursday, November 10, 2016, a meeting chaired by Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Economic Affairs and Development, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with participation of high level delegation from all member States: Sheikh Mansur bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Premier and Minister of presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Representative of the King for charity and youth affairs, Head of the Supreme Committee for cooperation and chairman of financial coordination of the Supreme Council for youth and Sports, in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi, Minister of Royal court of the Sultanate of Oman, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, the foreign minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Minister of State for cabinet Affairs of Kuwait and Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf cooperation Council (GCC), who took part in the meeting. They initiated the meeting extending sincere thanks and gratitude of their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the GCC countries who did a favor by enactment of the decision to establish the body, in question, noting the vital role expected to be played by it and hopes placed on it to serve as a driving force for economic and development aspects of the joint action of the Gulf. They stressed that taking into account the great strides made by the process of economic development in the GCC countries, which had resulted in the achievement of standards of living for the citizens of these countries, the time has come to make a quantum leap for this march to wider horizons to raise the quality life in its entirety, enhance the effectiveness of the Gulf economy competitiveness, negotiating ability, the status and role played by the GCC countries in the global economy. They also confirmed, too, the urgent need for further development in the existing economic sectors, in order to further contribute to driving economic growth ahead and create a tributaries and multiple paths, in addition to the private sector and the oil path, through high flexibility and super ability to attract investment and upgrade competitiveness of economic sectors. -- SPA 21:57 LOCAL TIME 18:57 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w267397
