CAIRO, Jumada II 02, 1438, March 01, 2017, SPA -- Arab health ministers signed on Tuesday Cairo Declaration of 2017 on Arab Women Health on the sidelines of the meeting of the Executive Office of the Arab Health Ministers Council in Cairo. The declaration calls for upgrading health services for Arab women and increasing their contributions to the health sector policy-making in their countries. It demands the adoption of a unified Arab strategy to counter the spread of non-communicable diseases and to end physical and psychological violence against women. The declaration urges Arab governments to prioritize women in health and development policies and to provide women with adequate health and social care. It also proposes merging basic preventive and non-communicable disease-related services with primary healthcare services. It underlines the need for increasing healthcare coverage for women in the least developing countries. It calls for preparing, in cooperation relevant regional and international organizations, a comprehensive Arab report on the situation of the Arab women health and means to improve the services offered to them. --SPA 02:18 LOCAL TIME 23:18 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w343002
