Manila, Dhu-AlQa'dah 10, 1437, Aug 13, 2016, SPA -- Two teenagers were killed in the Philippines on Saturday when a jailhouse firewall collapsed into neighboring shanty houses in Manila City following days of heavy rains. Several people were also injured in the accident in Santa Cruz district, said Johnny Yu, head of the local disaster relief office. Yu said a portion of Manila City Jail's 7-foot firewall crushed four dwellings occupied by the victims, dpa reported. "The heavy rains of the past days could have weakened the wall and caused the collapse," he said. Manila and the surrounding provinces have been experiencing heavy rains for the past week due to a low pressure area and the southwest monsoon. Hundreds of residents were forced to flee their homes in some areas in Manila and northern provinces due to swollen rivers and dams. --SPA 14:21 LOCAL TIME 11:21 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
