London, Shawwal 21, 1437, July 26, 2016, SPA -- British Prime Minister Theresa May is scheduled to meet Irish counterpart Enda Kenny on Tuesday in the latest round of talks on how to navigate a British exit from the European Union, dpa quoted a spokeswoman for the Irish leader as saying. Northern Ireland is due to leave the EU alongside other British nations - England, Scotland and Wales - while its southern neighbor the Republic of Ireland remains in the bloc. Many fear the open border between the two countries will have to be fortified, despite Kenny promising otherwise. Kenny's visit to Downing Street comes a day after May pledged during a trip to Belfast to find a "practical solution" to the Irish border after meeting with Northern Ireland's first minister and her deputy. Kenny, who has already met this month with French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the issue, said he was looking forward to constructive discussions with May, who took over the post from former prime minister David Cameron on July 11. "This meeting will provide an opportunity for us to have a strategic and constructive discussion on the impact of the referendum and how we are going to work together to protect the interests of all our citizens on these islands," he said in a press release. --SPA 14:01 LOCAL TIME 11:01 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
