Stockholm, Muharram 30, 1437, Nov 12, 2015, SPA -- Temporary border controls to help manage the flow of migrants into Sweden were set to go into effect midday Thursday (1100 GMT), as the country emulated recent moves by Germany and Austria, dpa reported. People arriving to Sweden will need to have a passport or some other form of identity card, Home Affairs Minister Anders Ygeman said on Swedish television. Police were likely to conduct "spot checks," he added, shortly before the formal cabinet decision authorizing the move. The measure - announced late Wednesday - was to be in place for an initial 10-day period, but "will likely be extended," said Ygeman. The Swedish Migration Agency's Head, Anders Danielsson, has forecast that between 140,000 and 190,000 people could apply for asylum this year, far more than last year's 80,000 bids. --SPA 13:26 LOCAL TIME 10:26 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
