Al-Hussein: SPA witnesses qualitative leap with support of Minister of Culture and Information

Riyadh, Rabi'II 18, 1437, January 28, 2016, SPA -- President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein expressed his sincere appreciation and thanks to Minister of Culture and Information and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Press Agency Dr. Adel bin Zaid Al-Toraifi for his full support for SPA in order to bolster its media role, including his inauguration of the SPA's new portal and identity on Thursday evening. In a press statement following the conclusion of the inauguration ceremony of the new portal and identity of SPA, Al-Hussein said that since the establishment of the Saudi Press Agency 45 years ago, it has seen many developmental leaps in the field of broadcasting news based on credibility and clarity. He pointed out that with the rapid development of the means of modern communications technology, SPA is keen to keep pace with these developments to reach all people inside and outside the kingdom, and convey the kingdom's message to the world. Al-Hussein said that in the framework of SPA's efforts to keep up with modern means of communication, it has expanded its news activities through using social networking outlets such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, and it is currently about to study broadcasting its news through other communication outlets such as Snapchat and Telegram in order to reach the largest possible number of audience. He noted the importance of the existing partnership between SPA and the other local media to serve the general interest of the kingdom and strengthen its regional and international presence. In this regard, he noted to the current tendency of SPA to spread globally through modern languages, saying that it is only a first step in the process of media development march which aims to inform the public of local, Arab and international developments with high level of professionalism, accuracy and excellence. Al-Hussein stressed that SPA will continue its developmental march tirelessly and will benefit from international expertise in order to improve its news performance, as well as attracting Saudi qualified media professionals to contribute to the media coverage of the developmental renaissance movement in the kingdom with news, reports, photos and modern languages under the care of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the support of the Crown Prince and the Deputy Crown Prince. --SPA 00:37 LOCAL TIME 21:37 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
