Havana, Shawwal 01, 1436, July 17, 2015, SPA -- German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has pledged support to Cuban President Raul Castro's efforts to implement economic reforms, dpa reported. The assurances came during the first visit to the island by Germany's top diplomat, sources present at the negotiations said. Steinmeier also met with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez, to sign a joint declaration on political, social and economic cooperation between their respective ministries. Steinmeier is also scheduled to meet Rodrigo Malmierca, Cuba's minister for foreign trade and investment, to discuss bilateral trade. Cuba currently comes in at 101 on a ranking of Germany's top trading partners in terms of exports.
