Excursion boat runs aground in South Korea, no casualties

Seoul, Dhu-AlHijjah 06, 1435, September 30, 2014, SPA -- A boat with more than 100 people aboard ran aground Tuesday in South Korea, but there were no casualties, the Coast Guard said, according to dpa. The accident occurred when the cruise boat hit a submerged rock in waters near the south-western island of Hongdo, Yonhap news agency reported. Coast Guard officers responding to a distress call and rescued all aboard the ship with the help of nearby fishing boats, it said. The passengers were taken to the island to wait for a ferry bound for the mainland port of Mokpo. The excursion boat had been taking a morning cruise around the scenic island, Yonhap said.
