Washington, Ramadan 20, 1435, Jul 17, 2014, SPA -- A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck western Canada near the Gulf of Alaska Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said. The quake, initially reported as a magnitude 6.1, hit 95 kilometers north-northwest of Yakutat, Alaska, just over the U.S.-Canadian border and roughly 300 kilometers from Whitehorse, Canada, according to USGS.
