Washington, Dhu-AlQa'dah 6, 1435, Sep 1, 2014, SPA -- At least 600 million dollars in aid is needed to control the Ebola epidemic in West Africa, the World HealthOrganization (WHO) estimates. In a news conference in Washington, WHO Director-General Margaret Chan calls for a global coordinated response to the crisis. "This Ebola epidemic is the largest, most severe, and most complex that we've ever seen in the nearly 40-year-history of the disease," she says. Besides funds, the area is in dire need of resources and health workers. Between 200 and 250 health workers are needed to take care of every 80 infected patients says WHO spokesperson Keiji Fukuda. --SPA 23:35 LOCAL TIME 20:35 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
