During the reign of late King Khalid bin Abdulaziz and the era of the late Custodian of the Two Holy King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, the State has started, through the studied plans, the implementation of several projects culminated in a huge project with a budget of more than SR 80 million for paving and lighting of historical Jeddah by a manner consistent with its historical value and maintaining its heritage buildings and historical urban components. The government's interest continued in the historical Jeddah in the current prosperous era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who attached a particular importance to Jeddah in the context of his care of urban heritage in all regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Such intention was embodied by the formation of the Supreme Committee for the development of historical Jeddah headed by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, former governor of Makkah region, Vice Chairman of the Committee Prince Sultan bin Salman, SCTA President, from which an executive committee has been established under the chairmanship of Prince Mishaal bin Majed, Governor of Jeddah province, reflecting positively on the increasing financial allocations for historical Jeddah projects, which aim to maintain and develop the region and make it an attractive urban area preserving its cultural and heritage value.
