Riyadh, June 24, 2019, SPA -- The Organization of Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross has strongly condemned the targeting of Abha International Airport resulting in a number of injuries and death of a Syrian resident in a terrorist war crime using a drone that targeted the Airport's parking area. The Organization said that the attack on the airport, which is packed with thousands of passengers, violates the international law and threatens international peace and security. In a statement, the Organization expressed its condemnation of this terrorist attack, describing the attack as a flagrant violation of the international law and a dangerous escalation that undermines the security and stability of the region, pointing out that targeting the airport as a civilian establishment confirms disregard for the lives of civilians, and lack of respect for international laws and conventions that prevent the targeting of civilians in any form of aggression even in a case of war. In the context of the statement, Secretary General the Organization Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Tuwaijri, stressed that the attack on Abha Airport is a terrorist act that is equivalent to an international war crime that requires international prosecution, and a continuous violation of relevant Security Council resolutions, including resolutions 2216 and 2231. He also expressed sincere condolences to the family of the Syrian resident, wishing the injured a speedy recovery. --SPA 11:28 LOCAL TIME 08:28 GMT 0008 www.spa.gov.sa/w1124412
