Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir pointed out that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's position on the Palestinian cause is firm and it categorically rejects any prejudice to the historical and legal status of the city of Jerusalem (Al-Quds). The Kingdom calls on the relevant United Nations organs and mechanisms, including the Human Rights Council, to fulfill their responsibilities to defend the rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and establishment of their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem (AlQuds) as its capital, he added. The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs stressed the Kingdom's stand with the brotherly Syrian people and their right to territorial integrity, independence, unity, and free from any foreign forces. It also stresses the importance of finding an urgent solution to this crisis under Security Council resolution 2254, looking forward to continuing support for the efforts of the United Nations envoy. Minister Al-Jubeir said that the Kingdom's government condemns gross and systematic violations of human rights being committed against the Rohingya minority, and calls for concerted efforts to put an end to these violations, return refugees to their lands and provide them with humanitarian assistance. He affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's stance is consistent in supporting Yemen, its people and legitimate government in confronting the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia, which is the main cause of the conflict in Yemen. "The Kingdom continues to provide all forms of support and assistance to the brotherly people of Yemen," Al-Jubeir said, referring to assistance amounting to more than 13 billion US dollars by January 2019 and providing $ 500 million for 2019 at Pledging Conference on Yemen on Tuesday. The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs called on the international community to put an end to the Iran's violations of human rights, including the violations being committed against groups of the Iranian people, cross-border violations, interference in the internal affairs of the countries of the region, and inciting sectarian conflicts through its support for parties and terrorist militias. -- SPA 12:21 LOCAL TIME 09:21 GMT 0004 www.spa.gov.sa/w845450
