Manila, Dhu-AlHijjah 28, 1439, Sep 8, 2018, SPA -- A strong earthquake struck the southern Philippines on Saturday, government seismologists said, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or major damage. According to dpa, the magnitude-6.4 tremor forced thousands of people to evacuate buildings in Davao City, 957 kilometres south of Manila, where the quake was felt at its strongest, local police said. The quake's epicentre was located 27 kilometres from the town of Manay in Davao Oriental province, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. The earthquake was also felt as far away as Cotabato City, more than 245 kilometres west of Manay, the institute said.
