Geneva, 09 Muharram,1440 AH, 19 September,2018 , SPA -- A seminar on the right to water in humanitarian emergencies was held at the United Nations in Geneva in the framework of the 39th session of the Human Rights Council. A member of the Yemeni Coalition for Human Rights Violations Hani Aswadi spoke about the situation in Yemen and the impact of the ongoing conflict on its water security. Al-Aswadi said that since Houthi militias took over the legitimate authority in September 2014 and Yemen has entered into a war, Yemen's water crisis has increased and its tragedy has multiplied. He pointed to the latest reports of the International Committee of the Red Cross that dealt with damage to Yemen's infrastructure, which led to disasters such as cholera outbreaks. He noted that the siege of the cities and the bombing of water reservoirs by Houthi militias backed by Iran are the most important factors exacerbating the water security crisis in Yemen, especially in Taiz. -- SPA 14:17 LOCAL TIME 11:17 GMT 0010 www.spa.gov.sa/w751477
