Saudi Arabia is an Arab, Regional and International Leader in Meteorology, says WMO

Jeddah, Mar. 27, 2022, SPA -- The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) praised the efforts of the Saudi National Center of Meteorology, citing its key role in supporting economic and social development in the Kingdom, and protecting lives and property, noting that extreme weather, water and climate phenomena have become more frequent and more severe in many parts of the world due to climate change, highlighting the Middle East Green Initiative launched by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince. In a key speech delivered during the Kingdom’s celebration of the World Meteorological Day held under the slogan “Early Warning and Early Action” today in Jeddah, WMO regional representative for the Arab Region Dr. Hisham Abdel Ghani stressed that increased coordination between meteorological bodies, authorities concerned with crisis and disaster management and development agencies has become necessary to improve prevention, readiness and response measures. Dr. Abdel Ghani reiterated his praise for the efforts of the National Center of Meteorology, especially at the Arab and Gulf regional levels, citing its support for the establishment of many regional centers that serve the Arab and Gulf communities regarding climate change, climate services, dust and sand storms, among others. --SPA 23:02 LOCAL TIME 20:02 GMT 0027 www.spa.gov.sa/w1713253
