Saudi Press: Saudi Arabia Takes Serious Steps towards Developing its Legislative Environment

Riyadh, February 10, 2021, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues its efforts and harnesses all technical, human and financial capabilities to protect the citizen and the resident from the Coronavirus. The paper added that the Ministry of Health refers to the reality in issuing advices, as the speech of the Official Spokesman of the Ministry of Health Dr. Mohammed Al-Abdulali yesterday affirmed that confronting and controlling the pandemic is possible if everyone adheres to the precautionary measures. The Ministry also announced that 80% of the new cases were related to social activities such as family gatherings. This thing affirms that wrong practices are the cause of the high rate of infections, and the government will not hesitate to take additional measures to control the pandemic’s outbreak. The newspaper concluded that the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques calls for the citizen and resident to adhere to all precautionary and preventive measures. In another context, Al-Yaum, Al-Bilad and Al-Eqtisadiah newspapers reported in their editorials that the continuous endeavors and pioneering efforts exerted by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, since the era of the late founder until this prosperous era, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, are for the sake of achieving justice and preserving human rights. The newspapers pointed to the HRH the Crown Prince’s announcement that the Kingdom has taken serious steps towards developing its legislative environment during the past few years, including adopting new laws and reforming existing ones, as these laws are meant to preserve rights, bolster the principles of justice, enforce transparency, protect human rights and achieve comprehensive and sustainable development. HRH the Crown Prince also stated that the Personal Status Law, the Civil Transactions Law, the Penal Code for Discretionary Sentences, and the Law of Evidence will represent a new wave of reforms that will contribute to the ability to predict court decisions, increase the level of integrity and efficiency of judicial institutions, and increase the reliability of procedures and oversight mechanisms. The newspapers concluded that the existence of applicable legislations to be referred to is considered an urban transformation and an important economic requirement at the present time. It strengthens confidence in the Saudi economy and society.
