Jeddah, Aug 31, 2020, SPA -- Jeddah-based King Abdulaziz University's scientific team have registered a world patent, at the US Patent Office, following successfully managing to invent an artificial surgical network, with innovative anti-bacterial characteristics. The invent lays ground for application in surgeries related to Hernia (Rupture), in contaminated surgical parts, as sometimes, such parts might be contaminated, especially in advances cases of Hernia, due to contaminating bacteria in the tissues of a body, which may constitute a hindrance to using artificial network, if the case stands, forcing surgeons to treat Hernia, without an efficient and effective bio-web or at least resorting to apply a less effective artificial web. Among the new features of the invented web, secretion of anti-biotic into the surrounding (adjacent) tissues for at least 14-day, a step conducive to get rid of the bacteria. Using the Nano technology to engineer the material of the artificial surgical network and through incorporating anti-biotic, in the composition of the network and then undergoing a process of testing on guinea-pigs, have proven effectiveness.
