German Foreign Minister: Iran Must Stop Interference in Other Countries' Internal Affairs, Particularly in Iraq

Amman, January 13, 2020, SPA -- Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and German Minister of Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas affirmed the need of dialogue and de-escalation in the region, which is witnessing major challenges, disclosing that any escalation will have serious repercussions on the region. During a press conference held here today, they stressed the importance of supporting security and stability in Iraq, noting that Iraq's safety is also vital for regional security. For his part, the German Foreign Minister called on Iran to stop interference in other countries' internal affairs, particularly in Iraq, adding that his country is following up the latest developments in Iran, and that Iranians have the right to express their opinion without fear and to deal with violence. Maas stated that Germany launched the "Berlin operation" to stop armaments in Libya and reach a truce between the parties of the conflict.
