Washington, Muharram 02, 1437, October 15, 2015, SPA -- The White House said Wednesday the U.S. military deployment to Cameroon is not in response to any changed threat assessment in the region, which has seen a Boko Haram insurgency spreading from northeastern Nigeria to several neighboring countries. Asked if the deployment of about 300 soldiers was in response to a “triggering event,” spokesman Josh Earnest said there was no such event, but rather that the troops are part of an enhanced effort to counter the threat from violent extremists in the region. --SPA 10:46 LOCAL TIME 07:46 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
