Riyadh, May 10, 2022, SPA -- The World Health Organization (WHO) has commended the distinguished experience of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in applying the Hand Hygiene program, considering this experience as one of the successful examples at the international level. The remarks were mentioned in a report published by WHO on its official website on the occasion of World Hand Hygiene Day that is annually celebrated on May 5, under the theme "celebrating hand hygiene success around the world". The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has a long experience in this field, where in 2009, after WHO launched the campaign Save Lives: Clean Your Hands, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia launched a national program to clean hands, and ever since major improvements in hand hygiene and preventing and controlling infections have been realized. In 2019, the Cabinet stressed that hand hygiene is the most important method to limit infections related to healthcare through the highest level possible of national legislation, which means imposing practicing hand hygiene on health personnel, which requires all facilities of healthcare to use WHO tools to evaluate commitment to hand hygiene. Also, a wide network of cleaning coordinators has been completely trained so that each healthcare facility should have at least one coordinator for hand hygiene, whether this facility is a hospital, preliminary healthcare center, a dentistry center of a kidney dialysis center, where the number of coordinators in 2022 exceeded 2,100 coordinators for hand hygiene in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. --SPA 15:34 LOCAL TIME 12:34 GMT 0018 www.spa.gov.sa/w1730660
