RIYADH — Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Dr. Abdullatif Al-Sheikh received Cardinal Dr. Christoph Schönbrunn, archbishop of Vienna, at his office here on Sunday. The archbishop is currently on a visit to Saudi Arabia. During the meeting, they discussed a number of issues of common concern, especially the efforts to strengthen bridges of cooperation and effective communication between leaders of religions in confronting hatred and extremist ideas. They also emphasized the importance of spreading tolerance and peaceful coexistence. During the meeting, Al-Sheikh also reviewed the efforts made by Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in spreading the cardinal principles of Islam and the true image of the concept of religious discourse in accordance with the approach of moderation and spreading tolerance. “The Kingdom is a model in supporting international efforts for spreading noble human values and spreading peace and harmony in the world, by supporting international forums and conferences locally and globally,” he pointed out. For his part, Cardinal Dr. Schönbrunn praised the efforts made by King Salman and the Crown Prince in spreading peace, love, and justice. He also highlighted the importance of joint work between religious leaders to promote a culture of dialogue and build bridges of communication to serve generations.
