The Ministry of Commerce confirmed on Sunday that there is an extremely plentiful stock of foodstuffs, especially essential commodities, available in the local markets and sales outlets, in preparation to meet the anticipated requirements during the fasting month of Ramadan. The Ministry stated that its field teams would continue carrying out their work plan for the holy month through proactive tours to monitor warehouses and markets in all regions of the Kingdom. They will monitor the smooth flow of supply and demand and meet any required increase, as well as to ensure the multiplicity of suppliers of goods and products, and take regular measures against violations of consumer protection regulations. The Ministry will follow up on the availability of basic foodstuffs and supplies to fulfill the required needs for consumption during the holy month. It will also control prices, verify the sufficiency of stock, and ensure the safety and suitability of commodities offered for consumption. It also monitors the compliance of commercial centers and shops by placing price tags on the exhibits and catching cases of fraud and misleading promotions that usually happen during the advent of the holy month.
