1.5 million worshipers throng Makkah Grand Mosque on Saturday, night of Ramadan 25

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques revealed that around 1.5 million Umrah pilgrims and worshipers thronged the Grand Mosque in Makkah on the night of Saturday, the 25th night of the blessed month of Ramadan. Over one million faithful gather at Islam’s holiest shrine on a daily basis during the last 10 days of Ramadan that witness an unprecedented inflow of Umrah pilgrims and visitors from within the Kingdom and all over the world. Their number continued increasing during these days in the annual peak Umrah season and it is expected to reach a record number on Monday night, the 27th night of Ramadan, which is widely believed to be Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Power. The Holy Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet (peace be up on him) in the Night of Power, which is better than a thousand months. The Saudi authorities have made elaborate arrangements for the smooth flow of worshipers and enable them to spend the remaining blessed days of the holy month in a highly spiritual and serene atmosphere. The presidency stated that 56,400 Zamzam water containers were distributed all over the Grand Mosque and its courtyards. The number of beneficiaries of voluntary services reached about 495,201. The presidency has distributed booklets and pamphlets among 12,220 beneficiaries while beneficiaries of digital awareness programs, and social and humanitarian services reached 136,000 and 110,809 respectively. The presidency stated that the number of beneficiaries of the tawaf service stood at 5,949 while beneficiaries of field guidance in various languages reached 189,984. There were 200,000 beneficiaries of field awareness. A total of 3,542 wrist bracelets were distributed among children pilgrims and visitors. The amount of disinfectants used stood at 130,000 liters, along with 3,000 liters of fresheners. More than 6600 liters of hand sanitizers were used, while another 341000 liters were used to sterilize carpets, 6,535 liters to sterilize robots, 6,515 liters to sterilize biocare, and 34,000 liters to sterilize surfaces. The number of beneficiaries from the designated sites for the elderly and people with disabilities reached 7,124, the presidency added.
