RIYADH: The eighth Saudi plane carrying aid for Sudan arrived at Port Sudan International Airport on Monday. The plane, carrying 30 tons of food provisions and medical supplies, is part of a Saudi initiative to provide Sudan with $100 million in humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the people there. Saudi Arabia and the US on Sunday announced that a one-week humanitarian ceasefire agreed between Sudan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces would take effect at 9:45 pm (1945 GMT) on Monday to enable humanitarian assistance to civilians. Gunfire and explosions again rocked Sudan’s capital on Monday, hours before the truce was due to take effect.
