RIYADH: Riyadh’s Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University is participating in AccessAbilities Expo 2023 in Dubai, which runs until Oct. 11. The exhibition is aimed at disabled people and those interested in the medical and academic aspects of disability. It aims to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities. The Middle East has an estimated 50 million people with disabilities, the Saudi Press Agency reported. University officials said their expo participation underscored their commitment to providing education for students with disabilities. They added that it was also a platform to highlight the university’s significant accomplishments, such as its international certifications and rankings. Staff will be discussing how the university facilitates learning opportunities for people with disabilities, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to access suitable job opportunities. Officials said these ensured disabled people’s independence and integration into society as active and productive individuals. The university pavilion features four workshops on psychological care for people with disabilities; highlights student support center services; showcases innovations by students with special needs; offers hand muscle strength assessments and hearing tests for visitors; and provides comprehensive information on academic programs through an interactive touchscreen tour. The university’s expo involvement aligns with its Strategic Plan 2025. This promotes global education practices, aims to foster local and international connections, and cultivates a healthier university environment. Last year, the university highlighted key projects, research by academic members on disabilities, and relevant certifications obtained in the field, at the AccessAbilities Expo 2022 in Dubai.
