RIYADH: Need a holiday? How about your own sun-dappled sandy islet, with a private landing jetty, personal chef, beach club, gym, and the ultimate in luxury? Then Red Sea Global has the answer to your prayers. The company developing tourist destinations on the Saudi west coast has launched the Thuwal Private Retreat, set across a coral archipelago. The accommodation comprises a three-bedroom villa and three one-bedroom suites, so there’s plenty of space for a family. Guests will have the opportunity to explore Red Sea coral reefs through activities such as snorkeling, or travel to nearby destinations like Thuwal village to explore Saudi culture. The resort has been created “to allow guests the chance to disconnect from the stresses of daily life, and instead reconnect with their closest companions,” said company chief executive John Pagano. “Our belief is that the sublime Red Sea coast combined with tailored luxury experiences will deliver a peerless escape for the most discerning travelers.” The destination is Red Sea Global’s first without third-party operators involved in the development process. “This is a milestone for us,” Pagano said. “It is … the first time we are creating a destination owned and operated end-to-end by the expert team here at Red Sea Global.” Thuwal will begin taking reservations early in 2024, with guests required to book the entire resort. And the cost? That remains confidential until closer to opening — but it’s safe to say that if you need to ask, you can’t afford it.
