Two 12-year-old boys have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 19-year-old man was stabbed to death in Wolverhampton on Monday, West Midlands police have said. Shawn Seesahai died after being stabbed shortly before 8.30pm on Monday, in open fields near to Stowlawn primary school in the east of the city. Police said two 12-year-old boys had been arrested on Tuesday night from their home addresses on suspicion of murder, and remained in custody. DCI Dave Sanders, from the force’s homicide team, said: “Our thoughts remain with Shawn’s family, who have been fully updated with this latest development. Our investigation is moving at pace and we continue to encourage anyone with information to contact us.” West Midlands police said the victim’s family was being supported and they had increased dedicated patrols in the area “as we understand this incident will have caused deep concern in the local community”. Emergency services were called to open land off Laburnum Road in Wolverhampton shortly before 8.30pm on Monday but, despite the efforts of paramedics, Seesahai died at the scene. West Midlands ambulance service said it was called to the scene at 8.41pm and sent a number of vehicles, the first of which arrived within three minutes of the call. A spokesperson said: “Crews arrived to discover a man who had suffered serious injuries in the incident and was in a critical condition. They immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite their best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.” Pat McFadden, the MP for Wolverhampton South East, said the incident was “devastating and my thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends”.
