RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics has secured a website and digital content efficiency excellence award, ranking it among the top 10 government entities for 2023. GASTAT affirmed that this achievement is evidence of its commitment to adhering to the established standards for government web pages, according to its official website. The award was presented to Mohammed Al-Rasheed, GASTAT’s vice president for operations, during the recently concluded second edition of the Digital Government Forum, held on Dec. 19-20 in Riyadh by the Digital Government Authority under the theme “Our Future Now.” GASTAT is implementing an ambitious digital transformation project to achieve a high-quality technological infrastructure that can compete regionally and globally. According to the authority, the initiative adheres to the highest international standards practiced by institutions specializing in statistical data and information. Through this project, the authority said it seeks to enhance utilizing its statistical publications and products using the most user-friendly and flexible technological methods, ensuring that users can access, review, and download statistical data. Additionally, it aims to present data in ways that contribute to understanding the results and indicators produced by the authority. In August, GASTAT launched an Economic Data Platform to allow researchers to follow up on developments in Saudi Arabia. This initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives of enhancing digital services and provides national and global organizations with economic data and statistics. Moreover, it also offers the most significant information and indicators related to pricing, energy, and gross domestic product, as well as international commerce, labor market, and business statistics. According to the statistics body, the platform’s launch facilitates access to economic statistics and indicators by beneficiaries and displays them using interactive maps, allowing users to download them in various formats. Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that the Digital Government Forum seeks to emphasize the accomplishments of digital governance, present its success stories on both local and international fronts, and facilitate interactions among leaders in the digital community. This includes fostering communication, exchanging experiences, building partnerships, sharing successful practices, and discussing challenges. Furthermore, the DGF is designed to explore contemporary technological best practices, analyze future trends in digital governance, and investigate investment opportunities within the Kingdom’s digital sector.
