A teenager has appeared in court charged with the murder of 16-year-old Harry Pitman, who was stabbed to death in north London on New Year’s Eve. Pitman had gone to Primrose Hill with friends to watch the fireworks and was stabbed to death in the Camden park shortly before midnight. The suspect, 16, who was also charged with possessing an offensive weapon, was remanded in custody. The defendant, who is from Westminster and cannot be named because of his age, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, and address. He told his visibly emotional parents that he loved them as he was escorted into custody. The Metropolitan police said Harry’s family was continuing to be supported by specialist officers. A 17-year-old boy who was arrested on Thursday had been released on bail, and three other boys originally arrested in connection with the incident would have no further action taken against them, the force said. Lisa Ramsarran, the deputy chief crown prosecutor for the CPS London homicide team, said: “The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings are active and that the defendant has the right to a fair trial. “It is extremely important there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
