RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s statistical data and business records are set to improve with the launch of a new survey, contributing to the country’s economic development. The exercise, to be conducted by the Kingdom’s General Authority for Statistics, aims to refine precise numbers and indicators by updating the base year in gross domestic product. Furthermore, it intends to offer crucial insights into the Saudi economy and diversification while identifying business opportunities and challenges. GASTAT emphasized that this will empower decision-makers, policymakers, and investors by providing data for local, regional, and international comparisons, as well as for studies and analyses. The authority stated that participating in the comprehensive economic survey is a way to contribute to formulating strategies, development plans, programs, and performance indicators across diverse business activities. The authority added that it is committed to employing all available resources for precise statistical indicators, aligning with contemporary scientific methodologies and standards. The survey will employ methods such as telephone communication, self-completion, and field visits to collect data across all business activities in the Kingdom, irrespective of size, type, or geographic scope. The aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of crucial economic indicators for understanding growth rates. It emphasized the collaborative framework involving relevant governmental entities in the survey’s design, adhering to precise statistical standards to ensure accuracy, according to GASTAT. The statement added: “GASTAT emphasizes that all data are treated with utmost confidentiality in accordance with the General Statistics Law issued by the Council of Ministers. It is impossible to publish data of establishments collected through electronic questionnaires.” The authority emphasized its commitment to protecting the privacy of this data, ensuring its use solely for statistical purposes. This encompasses generating aggregate results and general indicators, strictly adhering to the laws and regulations of the Kingdom. In light of this, GASTAT invited all establishments to actively participate in the survey. It encouraged cooperation, particularly with statistical researchers, recognizing the significance of establishment data in supporting decision-making processes and shaping economic policies.
